One of our threads has a little discussion about metric to imperial sizes.
It kind had me chuckling. I have to tell you why!

My wife is from Canada.
When she first came here, she was driving my car through a new reduced
speed zone. It had been 55MPH but was just recently reduced to 45MPH
I told her they were watching it closely and to keep an eye on her speed.
She slows down to 30MPH. I said they're not watching it THAT closely!
Then it dawned on me... "Oh we go my the big numbers on the speedometer
here....."

Second incident involved her asking for half a kilo of ham at the grocery
store deli. They looked at her like she was from Mars! :?

Maybe some day we will all be on the same page???

Rick,
That reminds me of the time I was going to meet an old friend in Frankurt, Germany.
I was pottering down the autobahn at 120 Mph when I was quickly pulled over by the local Polizei. It was a 120 Kph speed limit. A rather costly $200 on the spot fine brought me back to continental thinking. The irony of it was that we had been on the road for about 18hours and was only 10 mins from my destination.

Being of the Uk cross over generation, i know what a pound of cheese looks like or a kilo of sugar, no idea about ounces and grams though, and a pint of milk is the right way to buy it. I measure big things in feet and miles and little things in millimetres. I've just had to look up what power my car has as its quoited in Kilowatts! (20 apparently , but aren't French horses smaller than English ones?).....the delights of half education!
