I believe drift trikes have a locked axle (both rear wheels drive). If you what videos of them both tires spin in corners.

For ease I would buy a go-kart axle. Last one I bought wasn't overly expensive and they already have keyways for brakes, hubs, sprockets, etc, plus hubs are commercially available to suit many different sized wheels.

Not necessarily, a live axle means that both wheels are 'connected' as in not independent rear suspension, so an effect on one wheel affects the other wheel. They may or may not be connected by a differential, or locked together such as solid axle. Most older rear wheel drive cars have a live axle with a standard differential. You definitely want a solid/locked axle for a drift trike.

Here in the USA , we refer to a live axle in karting, as a live axle.
Try craigslist, for someone selling a kart. Axles are not very expensive.
I would use a 11/4" or a 40 mm, axle I would not use a 1", it will bend too easy.

yeah i would i just cant be bothered to buy one id rather make it with what i have for free ;)
