Being a resident of the little town of Punxsutawney PA I feel it is
my responsibility to acknowledge Groundhog Day.

At dawn on February 2ed that poor little critter is pulled out of
his burrow to make his prediction for the end of winter.

If he does not see his shadow it means an early spring.
If there is a shadow there will be 6 more weeks of winter.

Now for a more personal view...
If that fuzzy rodent says 6 more weeks of winter I intend to seal him
up in a tin box and mail him to Australia.
Maybe a little warming up will bring him around to my way of thinking! ;)

I'm with you on that one Rick....this one stated early and has been cold and way to snowy. At least it held out for the latest mill move...now if it can just be nice when I pick up my new one.

let us know how it goes Rick

i'll get the BBQ fired up and ready to go

what goes better with ground hog ??

chilli sauce or smoky BBQ ???

cheers

I hear in west Virgina on groundhog day the tradition is. If the groundhog sees his shadow you shoot him if he does not see his shadow you still shoot him a groundhog hole will get a good horse lame real quick.

Rick,

If you don't have a box handy, I can bring one right over with a shipping donation!

G'day Rick,

Forget the rodent, box me up some of that cold air you've all got.
I'm sure a container load would not go astray in Adelaide either. 8)

He saw a shadow.
That means 6 more weeks of winter.

It is totally crazy, but does a lot for a little.

Rick

Sorry to hear about the shadow :-[, loved the movie :big: :big:

Cheers

Groundhog Day is one of my favorite movies.

In fact, I've watched it over and over and over and .... :p

Six more weeks.... Darn!! I am ready for the spring to get here! Better weather, though that also means more honey do's.... Hmmm... maybe six weeks isn't so bad after all. ;D

Last evening I went to the Annual Critter Dinner at one of the local churches . It is a guys night out covered dish thing. The guys are encouraged to bring game dishes. There was BBQ wild boar, venison , various Buffalo dishes, (BTW ground buffalo is pretty available at local markets) squirrel pot pie, Etc. There were also the normal beef, chicken and pasta dishes.
every year there is the traditional pot of mystery meat. I am not kidding we actually do this. Someone writes a poem of clues and the game is to guess the mystery meat .
This years mystery meat was GROUNDHOG!!! No not making up a story.
