I was changing a set of threading gears out for the fine feed
.0023 to .004 range today. That gear set calls for an 80 tooth
gear on the feed screw.

The lower edge of that gear is too low to clear the bottom of the side
cover. A quick hacking job with the Dremel Tool and a cutoff disk made
the clearance required. It isn't pretty but no one will ever see it unless
I open the cover.

Has anyone else had this problem with their 9 X 20?

Yep, same problem here Rick. Same solution too. Smitty

Rick,
I just picked up a 9x20 on Saturday. I was playing with the gears and put the 120 tooth on the feed screw driven by the 30 tooth for ultra low feed, I think somewhere around .0006. Yeah, it hangs way below the cover. I do plan to cut the cover as you did. I really like the finish left by that feed ;D
