You need a hole plate that will divide evenly into 65, only 2 options that I see that is 65 hole plate or a 13 hole plate. With the 13 plate in will go into 65 5 times and 90/5 = 18 so with a 13 hole plate every 18 holes will result in 65 divisions. I am not sure how a 39 hole plate could work.

Think of it this way, if you have a 36 hole plate if you go every 40 holes you will end up with 36 divisions. With the 90 table every 90 holes around a 36 hole plate will give 36 divisions. Likewise in the example with the 65 tooth and a 90 turn table with a 65 hole plate every 90 holes would...

I to also built a 2 x 72 grinder, I have added a 300 wheel along with the flat platen and a small wheel attachment. What I want to add is a drill sharpening attachment for larger drills but have yet to decide on a design. Don't know how I got along with out it.

:) I agree that you need to know how hard the material is, if you are talking 40 RC or less then it is do able. Anything harder that that will be VERY difficult to tap. Most hard materials I have tried to tap the tap froze in the material and would not back out. Orbiting EDM is the best chance...

Not sure where you are from but in the US there is a lot of good used machines available. A lot are larger than needed but if you have good access to you work area Full size Bridgeports and 10 to 15" swing lathes are very available. Mike

I am sure with something like a Sunnen hone you can get bore straight and round enough. Precision grind a piston to fit to get good compression. What I doubt is that it would run very long before it would seize up, your clearances would need to be in the .0005 or less range. That tight a fit...

If I did not see an O1 on it or a W1 I would guess it is oil hardening, if it is drill rod and did not harden try to quenching it is water. Mike
