Has anyone had a Cutler-Hammer mill? The numbers on the mill are:
9441h353 DV2 Type 2. It is a benchtop mill. I've searched the net and cannot fine anything on this or any other cutler hammer mill. It's up for sale and I'm looking at purchasing it. I bought an Enco 109-1005 lathe/mill
but it would be better labeled as mill/drillpress. The lathe part is good, but the "mill" part, It has a little play here and a little play there and by the time you add up all of the play, well like I said it's a drill press not a mill.:( Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Lance,
Is it possible that the motor or switch has the Cutler-Hammer name
on it and not the mill? Could you post a picture? Now that you
know the shortcomings of your Enco mill-drill, you will be able to
make a much better comparison between the two.

Good Luck,
Maverick

Cutler Hammer used to be, and possibly still is a manufacturer of high quality industrial electrical control gear . Very high quality and expensive.

I finally got the gentleman in charge of the auction on the phone and found out it is a Pro-cut mill better known as Rong fu. I already have one column type mill/headache, figured I didn't need a pair.:wall:

looks like you answered your own question .

I came to the same conclusion before I read your last post.

probably not a bad deal at the right price but the round colum units have some draw backs
. back to you combo.
run through these videos. they may help you get the most from your machine.

Hi Maverick,

I agree with you. I have been using Cutler-Hammer Switchgears/Starters/Contactors. Used to have a Master Cataloque on their products and have not seen machine tools.Perhaps the previous Mill owner was a keen supporter of CH starters and stuck on CH on Mill.
I love Cutler-Hammer Motor Starters as they are conservatively sized and last a long, long time.Whenever new equipment comes into the plant with CH gear,I can sleep in peace.Chinese motor starters are just junk & gunk.
Gave me nothing but problem.

Hi Tin Falcon,

Agree with you.My Sakai Vertical Mill comes with a round column.Spindle travel is limited .Realignment is a big problem when you do deeper jobs.Lowering the mill body means you are no longer spot on.

Your expertise appreciated. How to lower Mill Body and yet hold alignment.
Plan to DIY a mini boring head to machine deep cylinders too big for Sakai's 3" Chuck.Round column is pain in the side.
