I was given some drills to use or sell today. They are churchill comet high speed taper shank twist drills, ranging from small #2 shank to these great big 2 inch #4 shank.

First off I cant seem to find any info to see what they are worth (they are still brand new with the protective coating on them)

Anyone know?

To get an idea of what they are worth search taper shank drill on ebay, or morse taper drill.

I have a few Morse taper 2 ones but do not use them much. My Moms Husband has a large drill press, 5 foot swing or better, and it takes morse taper 4 drills. Ever drill a 3 inch hole through 1 inch plate? The drill press did not even break a sweat!

Ever drill a 3 inch hole through 1 inch plate?

at my first job after leaving high school i had to drill 6" holes though 12" plate we had a big radial drill press.
the drill bit was a spade type bit that i made.

I got about 30 taper shank drills ranging from 14mm up to 32mm from a dumpster outside a engineering company who were having a clean out. They were wrapped in rags and some had never been used. When enquired I was told they were no longer needed and I was welcome to them. I use them alot on the lathe for removing large amounts of material when boring. If you have machine capable of using them I would keep them.
