You are correct. The engines don't like to run fast, I have just finished the Ginery Atkinson cycle engine and when I try to go above about 450rpm it starts to jump all over the place. I think that this is a design flaw in all of them.

I have the same setup on my mill and I use a 1.25 face mill with no problems.

I have just finished the vertical version of this engine. Mine will run for an hour with no over heating. As long as you make it hit and miss heat should be no problem.

Try running chkdsk from a command prompt. The file is probably empty and windows has miss filed it in the index.

I have been using denatured alcohol with great success. It burns cleaner than some of the others.

If you go to harborfreight.com they have a wiring diagram in their manual which is down loadable.
