    Kyle's Edwards Radial build.

I've always considered calipers to be "precision guess-timators." Possibly nothing wrong with the reamer, the error may be in the measurement of the valve stem. Measure it with a micrometer instead of the calipers, and see where you're at. $.02, and worth every penny.

    G8689 problem

Gents, Having a little problem I hope you can help with. Finally stripped out the little plastic gear in the mini mill, and not wanting to mess around, bought the LMS belt drive kit. Installed with zero problems. Nice little conversion. I was able to make a couple of cuts with it. Now, when I...

Any good uses for bulk iron oxide (rust)...?

It's also used as a dye for concrete, and as a burn-rate catalyst in composite rocket propellants.

20 lb Thurst Pulse Jet Engines.

Pulse jets? I didn't know y'all did non-piston type motors here. Any interest in high impulse composite solid rocket motors? I'm not talking stump remover and sugar here. This is the real deal. I used to hold 3 research motor class altitude records with the Tripoli Rocketry Association. SRM's...

    MB building Upshur Farm Engines.

Well, how about that? I like to learn something new every day. Thanks Brian. Tell the truth, I wasn't feeling too warm and fuzzy about the brass intake valve either, but if your running enough fresh air over the valves, the heat may not be a problem. Thm:

    MB building Upshur Farm Engines.

MB, I haven't worked with miniature IC engines before. Being a decades old diesel mechanic, the engines I'm familiar with weigh in a little heavier than these works of art. But if these little ones are anything like the big ones... Can I suggest wider valve seats? You want a thick edge on the...

    Introduction

Yes, that's the one. The first 440 I ever rebuilt was in a 1970 Challenger R/T. Young dumb kid turning 10 second quarters in a N/A gas powered street car. Friday Grudge Night at Fremont Drag Strip. Those were the days. :D Then came the transit coaches with the converted 440's burning LPG. They...

Good morning and hello to all. I apologize for being remiss in posting before introducing myself. The name's James. Retired/disabled machinist/mechanic, thirty years in the component room of the SCVTA in Kalifornia, the last 17 as designated "fabricator," whatever that means. If it goes in a...

    Small V8

It's the scale that's got me. I spent thirty years building and machining engines very much like this. From Mopar 440's to Cummins 855's. The big difference was when I was done, they weighed in at 500+ pounds. Not grams. Excellent work. Looking forward to seeing and hearing it run. I don't...
