    Atlas Shaper Direction of Rotation

On mine, the solution was to pay attention to the stroke and set the motor direction accordingly. Return stroke is fast, cutting stroke is slow.

    Atlas Shaper Direction of Rotation

Mine had the arrow, but it was pointing the wrong way. And the original motor was turning backwards. I'll need to revisit that.

So why is it cup wheels are preferred? I have some white stone wheels, not cupped. Does the white color signify a particular grade?

Atlas shaper motors are simple to source. 110V 1/2HP works fine. Direction of rotation is marked on the backside of the upper driven pulley. cool machines, I love mine. Congrats on some nice additions to your shop

My new quest - a small vise for a shaper, made in USA

I had a Palmgren Vise just like this that came with my Millrite: http://www.georgia-market.com/Statesboro-/Industrial-/Rockwell-palmgren-milling-machine-vise-low-boy-nos.asp It's low and stout and is the closest thing I have seen to a real shaper vise. Note it's called a "Lo-Boy". They don't...

    Show Us Your Lathe

I want a lathe just like yours - Logan Powermatic by Houdaille - to match my mill. I'm envious ;D I have a shop full of lathes right now, and I'm about to clean house. If a Logan Powermatic shows up soon, I'll buy it. Otherwise I'll order a new Asian lathe to be named later.
