I don't know if this has already been posted, I did a search and came up blank.
Admin, if it has please delete this post.

A heads up!

Google has put all of the back issues of Popular Science (back to 1870) online so you can read them all. They can't be downloaded, but if you find a plan or article you like you can use the "Print Screen" command (alt + PrtScn) to capture the page and copy it to a photo program to save. Go to http://books.google.com/books?id=iigDAAAAMBAJ&source=gbs_summary_r&cad=0_0#all_issues_anchor

Today's Popular Science aren't much but ads for products, but the ones prior to the 1960s were great! I have not gotten past 1940's and have been at it for several days.

Cool! First one I looked at (Mar 1960) had a ball turning attachment for a lathe.
