Another noob to the board, tho I have some experience in welding (TIG) and machining (mainly lathe)

I've been lurking here for a while and thought it was time to make myself known.
I'm impressed by what I've seen.
Superb workmanship and a high standard of decorum.

In the not-too-distant future, I hope to realize my ambition to build a steam engine.
3 cyl, double-acting, Stephenson link "launch", and associated boiler. Still at the drawing stage.

I'm just south of Fremantle, Western Australia, on Cockburn Sound.

I'll be back!

Cheers, Lin

Welcome to HMEM Lin

I have a cousin who is a master at TIG welding.
It's like painting in molten metals.
I have to respect those skills!

Thanks for the welcome folks.
I'm impressed by the ethos of this site, as well as the competence and artistry.

I'm certainly no master welder Rake, just a "jack of many".
I have worked with artists in that trade though.
The guy that taught me used to build containment vessels, BNF Sellafield :(
Has a much happier life in Oz, teaching mugs like me and doing stainless steel yacht work.
