The Moriya Story -- short form !

I built three Moriya fans years ago, one for me and two as gifts. As you can see I made a few changes to suit my tastes at the time. They have always been great runners.

What paint to use on Workshop floor?

This is what I used on my 40 year old floor earlier this year. https://www.nclonline.com/products/view/STAMINA_ I have been pretty happy with it and it can be stripped and reapplied. Dave

For Sale Morrison and Marvin mini Wilton Vice kit

I haven't read the magazine article but have built the vise and I'm also responsible for creating the 3D CAD and 2D drawings. The only special tool that I recall having to make was the bushing to broach the key way. I did post a build thread located here...

Machining one of the Model Builder Vises is really pretty straight forward, I thought that I covered all the steps pretty well in my build thread. Dave

    Cole's Hot Air Betsy

I don't have any hard data to to say either way but my personal feeling is the solid base shouldn't make any difference in weather it runs or not. I will be interested in seeing your build. Dave

    Cole's Hot Air Betsy

I haven't built it but I do have it mostly modeled in Alibre Design. I purchased the castings a drawings off eBay some years ago and played around with modeling it. I have made some changes on the mounting of the cylinder and main bearing supports. I didn't really care for the stand offs on the...

Hall trigger ignition on hit'n'miss exhaust pushrod?

On a hot tube engine you need the compression to push the mixture into the heated portion of the tube, I would think that if you had an ideal mixture coming in through the intake valve, the spark plug would not have any trouble lighting it off. I considered this option on my Little Brother...

    Deals on Alibre

Hi Jason I did indicate that my method is useful if you have already created your drawing and needed to edit the visibility because you didn't do it at the creation of the drawing. Lots of different ways to accomplish the same end result. The manage edge command is also useful. Richard Yes...

    Deals on Alibre

If you have already created your drawing all you need to do is left click on the view that you want to edit and you should get a pop up menu, select the manage view icon and you will get a dialog that will allow you to turn the hidden lines on and off...

    Vertical side shaft engine

Myrickman yes I was also thinking the same thing with regards to the compressor having a much smaller volume over the piston. If this were a compressor it likely would have not had that much volume above the piston.

    Vertical side shaft engine

Found this, notice the similarities in the shape of the head. https://patents.google.com/patent/US445110A/en?q=Marcellus+Graham&oq=Marcellus+Graham&sort=old

    Vertical side shaft engine

Not sure about the compressor theory, notice the hole in the base under the gas tank where the air intake pipe would have gone? Also the compressor would not have had the feed through locations for the ignitor. How is the cam gear mounted does it look like an add on or part of the engine? I...
