    Mini t-slotting cutters

Herbie, I'm assuming you want the large part of the slot to be .25, If the bolt part needs to be .25 you can get that from these folks too in an actual T-slot cutter. It's not the "right" tool but may work 3031A11 High-Speed Steel Keyseat Cutter 1/4" Cutter Dia, 1/16" W Face, American Std...

Where can I read about indexable tool holders....

Gerry, This may help with the first part of the question. http://www.carbidedepot.com/resources.htm And some general reading. http://wewilliams.net/SBLibrary.htm http://nsa.kpu-m.ac.jp/gijutu/kousaku/easyweb.easynet.co.uk/chrish/techindx.htm http://www.jjjtrain.com/vms/index.html - Scott

    Pickle Solutions for Silver Soldering

Yea it's the additive that get you in the end :-} What I'd be worried about is whatever dissolves into solution from the part you are pickling. I did not know until recently that there was an alloy of steel with lead in it, probably not the thing to use in a toy. no matter what you use for a...

    Needed Collets

Ron, 1/8, yea that may be a bit small for a mandrel. It would probably work if supported by a center. The idea I was tying to convey was that if you drill the hole, Then use the hole as the reference for the rest of the turning it should be concentric without boring the little tiny thing...

    Needed Collets

Ron, I think masonry bits might be a bit flexible... I'm not sure what kind of accuracy you need but if you drill the hole then put it on an arbor it may help. I'm not horribly experienced but I'd do it in this order. center drill drill to size ream if you have one part off chuck a piece...

Tools I never knew I needed.

Okay, stop. I think my own response was sufficient. I almost put in the original question that I had already looked to the great and powerful google for an answer. I should have asked "Exactly what kind of chamfering tool are you using, after all you can chamfer a part with almost anything -...

    QCTP and accessories

Awhile back I asked for some opinions of what size QCTP to buy, and thanks again for the responses! So I thought I'd share what I did. I picked up the AXA size Phase II from Enco, A compound from E-Bay and a big chunk of 1018 bar to make a base for the compound...

    Needed Collets

yes, very nice work. For slitting you could turn a mandrel with a shoulder, superglue the Collet to the mandrel and cut towards the shoulder. Then heat to break the glue joint and glue if back on the other way to cut the second end. just an idea... Scott

AXA or BXA for a gz4015z

Thank you all for your advice. After some measuring I ordered the AXA from Enco, and two extra holders from CDCO - I want to verify the fit before getting more. If I don't like it I can always post it on here at a healthy discount :-} Thanks again - Scott

Tin, Chuck, Bob, It's 2.25 inches from the top of the compound to the centerline. Yea I know it a huge swing for the motor size - hey, I didn't design it :-} It would be nice to be ably to try these things out first! Thanks much for the input - Scott

AXA or BXA for a gz4015z

all, I'm thinking of purchasing a QCTP but am undecided on the size. The holders for the AXA are less expensive, the BXA gives me greater height adjustment. the distance between the top of the compound and the center line is ~2.25 inches swing over the bed is 16.5 And wedge or piston? does the...

    Mounting live center easily

Bob, Thanks for the reply. I understand what your saying now you are talking about "mill scale", yes it is hard, hard to remove as well! I don't agree that it will cause damage to the scroll, as Lan said that's cased by too much clamping force. Since a three jaw has three points on contact with...
