where in the uk are you?

looking at the photo of thread gauge, it only fits first couple of teeth - so pitch not same as gauge.
is the thread tapered, or parallel?
what does the part connect to - bulkhead/bracket?
could you ask the supplier of the part?
solvent to suit the paint. some may need 'cellulose thinners' or xylene, for example. my preferred option has been a little solvent in a small jar, to clean nozzle.
encouraging and perhaps frustrating. its a long time since i have seen a nylon topflite propeller. are they still manufactured in the usa/available in mexico?
0.005" clearance on what ...
1. the piston outside diameter - in comparison with the cylinder bore, but Toms explanation is 0.002" clearance, between piston and bore
or
2. axial length of groove, in comparison with the O-ring diameter section, for example?
top?
bottom?
back?
to avoid...
axial (along length of piston) clearance. for a 0.070" seal, the axial length of groove is typically 0.089/0.099"
Pete refers to radial (across section of seal) squeeze. for a 0.070" seal, typically 12% to 15% 0.060/0.062" housing radial width. different manufacturers quote slightly different...
to be filed to fit, Norman, or make new?
having looked at lathes.co.uk, i see it can be much more than the spindle sometimes seen for sale. is the column solid, or tube?
having a rest after lunch, and found a youtube video Potts Milling Spindle
maybe one evening next week, i'll saw a couple of rounds off some bar, and make the faceplates.
probably one for a small keats plate, t-slotted as Norman suggested " ... addition of 'guides' to control what could be called the x and y axis."
photo of a faceplate seen on ebay
and the other...
kind of you to share the detailed drawings, Valery.
reminded me of the of the AE 0.5cc, 'hidden' under my desk. rather dusty after 30+ years - and compression screw a little rusty.
once progress made with other projects - and a simpler engine machined first - maybe there will be one machined...
I made a start on the faceplates.
cut some 3/4" bar to make the spigots
turned both ends down to diameter
on the harold hall drawing, the thread is M10.
the lathe has imperial (inch) thread pitches. thought about making it 3/8". remembered the john stevenson 34 tooth gear, that provides very...
thanks Valery.
neatly drawn. useful to see the part that's being machined, too. looking at the photos and drawing together, I'm better understanding,
how and why the part is secured to the faceplate.
how the part could be put into required position.
and visualising machining the part.
I'll...
thanks
and another name/description
Stefan - always a delight to watch ... clearly explained ... an education - makes it all look easy.
as Norman suggested ... lots of mass
and mentions the additional benefit of easy cleaning when used with a tool post grinder.
i wonder whether This Old...
