    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

SOLUTION: I changed the potmeter, and it now runs perfect ;D Of course, I did not get the excact correct one(5K instead of 4.7K), but I can live with that. A ten-minute job after months of frustration :( However "we" are all happy now, since my machines have been moved from a cold and damp tiny...

    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

Duffer, sorry for the late reply. But no, I haven't had time to check it. I have spent all my time lately making a new workshop, and have had no time to look at the mill. It still works intermittently. The points I will look at are: PCB, potmeter and emergency stop. Good luck with your...

    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

Too bad, but thx anyway for the information. Are you absolutely certain the motor cannot handle 230V, when it is the 230-version? Anyway, will check out all the other things, but it seems that the card is the real problem :( Ed

    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

winklmj: Is that board compatible with 230V we have in Norway? Looks very promising, and modifications within capabilities. (I can get it from US, no problem). To all you others, thanks for your inputs, and it seems more people than me appreciate it  Thx again, Ed

    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

I have not had time to test everything yet. Plan is to perform a test(measure voltage on some components) on the controller board, and also test potmeter and emergency switch thoroughly. However, I am in the process of building a shed, and will postpone the work until I move the machine. It...

    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

Thank you very much for your inputs! I have already checked the potmeter for bad solderpoints, and it seems ok. Same with fusebox. But I will check them both further. I might have understood, but according to info found elsewhere, I have pictured the "motor-controller-board" . This photo is...

    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

Thank you, those are the places(among others I have been already. But the controllers they describe are slightly different from mine. Have also checked LMS trouble-shooting guide, and the info found here http://www.raynerd.co.uk/?p=567#respond Still searching ::) Ed

    Sieg X2 motor-problem.. SOLVED

I have a Sieg X2 Mill, which has given me great pleasure. After purchasing, I have added belt-drive and some cheap DRO. Also changed one of the bearings on the spindle, but have some fine tuning to go before the machine is deadon,- too much runout on the spindle. However, there is another...

    ER-16 Collets and Chuck

I see several are considering to buy the CTC ER chucks and collets. I have bought an ER25 3MT and ER25 2MT, with metric collets. So far, I am not impressed. The Er25 3MT is mounted on my Sieg X2. With the keyed chuck that came with the mill, measure 0.05mm runout. With the ER25 3MT I get in...

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

Sorry, no pics this time. Have been busy working, climbing, kayaking, working and so on ;) The belt drive has been fitted, and seems ok. However, the largest wheel was a very tight fit on the spindle, and is not perfectly aligned at the moment. While at it, I also swapped the lower spindle...

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

:) Thank you, Peter! This was just the information I nedded. I am already in contact with Heine. My good-morning-espresseo just tasted even better Thm: Next things on the programme are picking up my belt drive kit, new bearings and some DRO. Update will follow. Thx again, Ed

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

A small update. I have now tried, dismantled, cleaned, changed, assembled, tried, measured..... Many ,many times. It seems that the drawbar was part of the problem. With the collar in place, runout was reduced significantly. To approx 0.12mm. However, it seems that my collets are also...

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

A slight progress :) I have suspected the drawbar, and decided to make a collar for it. This reduced the runout to 0.10mm/0.004 inches at 50mm below the spindle. Good progress, but not good enough. I am still suspecting the drawbar/3MT, as the spindle is only gripping the lower 30mm of the...

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

B85V, "Tusen takk" for your hospitality. Your norwegian is perfect ;D I have now tried DTI from head, column and table. No difference. I have also tried tightening the spindle nut. No difference. I have tried to attach two pictures, showing my lines on my first and second run. Tooling and...

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

Have not tried adjusting the nuts, but the runout is definitively not in the table. Will try these good advice day after tomorrow. Will report shortly. Thx, Edvard

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

Thank you, for responding. My first 8 holes were fine. Then i did some side-milling, 4x40mm alu, light cuts. I discovered the runout when going back to my small holes after that. I cannot feel movement in the shaft sideways. However, with DTi mounted on the vise, i read 0.02MM on lower...

    Sieg X2 Spindle Runout

First, thank you to all the contributors to these forums. As a complete novice, I have spent much time reading and learning. I Currently have a Sieg X2 and C3. No plans for CNC, but hope to add DRO's and belt-drive in the near future. My workshop holds a steady 13*C/55*F I have tried searching...
