    Upshur's opposed twin engine

I didn't see the spark plug hole per the last picture. Sid

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

To gain a little more engagement for the rocker post (and I like the stud idea), can the spark plug be moved down? Maybe .050" I doubt it would make any difference to the performance, but would help the rocker post situation. Sid

Bob- I'm not sure what your reading, where, but you don't know what your talking about. (and I don't really care about your opinion). I've posted my work mainly on HSM and some here. It speaks for itself, so.... I've offered advice that was pertinent to the subject, based on a subject that I...

    Upshur's opposed twin engine

Chill dude!! No one was telling you how to "design or build model engines". Sparky and I were merely pointing out that if you use SW to model the engine, you can run it through it's motions to highlight any possible interferences. On the possibility that you were not familiar with how to do...

I agree, youtube has a lot of good tutorials. I've found good information for doing animation in Creo. Sometimes it may take a bit to find exactly what you need, but it's probably there. I'll bet local colleges would offer classes too.

Properly modeled in a 3D cad world, it is easy to do interference checks. Key term, properly modeled. No reason in SW this can’t be done.

Is that a chunk missing out of the left most crank cheek, on the bottom?? How is that going to be secure? Why not remake it instead of finding out later that it’s giving you issues?

Be careful saying too much about Brain’s methods! You might get a “bite me” from him!! However, I agree 100% with your assessment.

Vintage generator based on ceiling fan

I've seen Dan's BM engine. It's really nice. It will certainly have enough torque to run the generator as it is designed. There is another builder in our area that has a similar setup and it runs well too. Those BM engines are pretty impressive. Sid

    Distributor and wiring information

Once you finish the drawings, are you going to do a build log here? Will the drawing be available to other builders? Thanks, Sid

My next build--A cross beam vacuum engine

Yes, exactly. You want to get all the flame you can in the cylinder, then the port needs to shut off and seal for the hot air to meet the cooler cylinder, form a vacuum and have atmospheric pressure push the piston back up, then the valve snaps open again to start the cycle over. Sid

My next build--A cross beam vacuum engine

The one thing to note is that the valve action is not a simple eccentric. To work best, the valve needs to "snap" open and shut (relatively speeking). And, the valve also need to seal. These engines don't like sloppy fits or binding in anyway. Sid

    Look what followed me home

What a great gain for you!! What a great loss for the college and students! Who would possibly believe that teaching online, especially technical hands on, would be a good idea?? Rant off. Anything Hardinge is top notch, and you will love using it! Sid

My Flat Head Hit Miss Engine

The JB weld reference was because some builders use it instead of using a little care and precision in their work. ;)

My Flat Head Hit Miss Engine

This is looking very nice! And not one mention of JB weld anywhere! Looking forward to seeing it run. Sid
