    Organophillic Clay

I have at last found a supplier of an organophillic clay in Brisbane, Queensland ( for the north americans this is in Australia) I have been quoted $19.95 per kilo for bentone I was also offered Petrobond sand premixed for $5.50 per KG I already have the sand, so 5kg of Bentone will make...

    Organophillic Clay

Thanks for the info - Im sure someone in the US will find it useful. However if you read the original post in this tread, Australia is an island continent south of the equator on the other side of the world.:wall::)

    Organophillic Clay

As you say Bentonite is easily available to me, so no need to muck about with cat litter, which still wouldn't give me an Organophillic clay. The "wetting agent" is Benzalkonium Chloride a very common chemical used in solution as a biocide, another is Dihydrogenated tallow dimethyl ammonium...

    Organophillic Clay

As luck would have it I spent the last 2 weeks supporting a water drilling rig! They mixed up tonnes of bentonite in the mud tank but still no prize for me!

    Organophillic Clay

I would need to contact an oil well driller for organophillic clay (which is bentonite that has been surface treated to make it adsorb oil instead of water) and I will next Wednesday when I get back to work. I work in an oil and gas field straddling the Queensland / South Australia boarder...

    Organophillic Clay

I am looking for a supplier of organophillic clay (such as bentone34) in Australia. I am looking for an actual specific business that is a known supplier as I have traced many leads and suggestions that have led to disappointment. Cheers Mick

I have not yet seen a tool mounted the way yours is. It must be very easy to grind that tool as it appears to have just one facet?

    Rough Finish

Cheers mate I have done some correspondence with Stuart From Titan about mills. My initial enquiry was about http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200976330837 I then asked about the SX3 and he suggested the TM25v http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200977847587 it is the same as the one listed but with a...

    Rough Finish

Thanks you have given me an idea to make a flat faceplate that I can glue sheets of abrasive paper onto. You are correct about the lack of large equipment, I have a bench fully set up for Jewellery work (on of my trades) I have to get used to scale up from MM to inches Mill is on the wish list.

    Rough Finish

I've run out of tips because I have never bought any! The tips I had came with the machine, my first. I am glad you were able to produce a better result than my FIRST attempt at this procedure. I am sure that I have made many schoolboy/apprentice mistakes with the 5 or 6 pieces I have...

    Rough Finish

This is the only photo I have of the setup as it was - 4 jaw chuck jaws gripping 2 on each long axis. There is a video that also shows nothing. I had to move the plastic safety cover over by one screw hole to avoid it tapping on the job. It was in tight as I was worried about it flinging around...

    First build probably wobbly

Hmmm i'd have to find a crayon and paper... I am using a 30 day trial of Auto cad but I think I wont be fluent before they want $5000plus to keep using it! But seriously no plan other than in my head not even a ruler used yet. This is very much a teaching tool for using the lathe. There...

    Poor mans sand binder

This is readily available and cheap, at all home brew stores, its brewers detergent or sodium meta-silicate it is usually sold in powder/granular form - Just make a solution with di-hydrogen monoxide :) Most good homebrew stores buy it in 25kg bags and repackage (I did when I had my home brew...
