    Hercus 9A Dc conversion

Good Morning Ross , Thanks for your interest, the paint I used is Kill Rust Epoxy Woodland Grey. I used a combination of Spray and brush, I sprayed all the removable parts and brushed the bed so I wouldn't have to mask all the bed. I also added to the paint MS hardener just because I had it...

    Hercus 9A Dc conversion

I have recently refurbished my Hercus 9 lathe and converted it to DC MicroV drive. I have used a 3 HP dc Motor and a KB Penta Drive Controller. This setup works great, I had to fit an idler roller on the headstock to get the MicroV belt to the motor and machine the mid range pulley for the...

    Gears again

Good Morning, I had the same problem regarding a gear blank around that size. I solved it by silver soldering a piece of 2" and a piece of 3" 3/16' flat brass together, cutting out the blank with a hole saw and the gear turned out perfect. It was almost impossible to find the joint after...

    Closed Crankcase Hoglet

Good morning Hopper , Thanks for your comments, The brass fitting is the vent , when I first ran the engine it expelled copious drops of oil out of the vent holes so I put a piece of scotchbrite wool inside the cap covering the vent holes and this solved the problem

    Closed Crankcase Hoglet

I have just finished building a Closed Crankcase Hoglet. I have used aluminium for the build with steel liners in the cylinders. Building the crankshaft was the most challenging and getting it to run true, I turned the crankpin down to 5/16 on each end and threaded it and pressed it into the...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

Hi Bob, Thanks for your kind words and yes it is a PMR Dynamo however instead of using the screws supplied I made 2mm studs and Brass domed nuts to be more authentic. I think this makes the unit look more aesthetically pleasing the only disadvantage is the time taken to make them. I have made a...

    Tiny I.C. Engine

I have just finished building the Tiny IC and as yet I have not been able to get it to run. I used aluminium for the head and pressed in stainless steel valve inserts and lapped them to 2mm stem diameter valves. I have the exhaust valve starting to open at 35 degrees before BDC and closed at 5...

I have not been able to get the Tiny IC to run properly but...
