Fuel at shows - containers and delivery

With regard to the model fuel pumps, most are made for glow fuel (methanol). Petrol (gasoline) versions of the same type of pump are available and work well....but they are not interchangable.

    TurboCAD doors.

Have you tried 'Blocks'? Just save one of each type of door - Hinged L, Hinged R, Open In, Open Out, then drag into the drawing as required. Just keep your eyes on the layers though. Blocks come in on layer 0, so you may have to change the layer depending your method of working. Pete

    GHT Tee nut?

Similar result can be obtained by using the ball of a ballpein hammer and giving it a whack with a copper hammer.....just in case you do not have an arbor press handy. ;) Pete

    Logins Won't Stick

Sounds like the machine is not allowing cookies to remember the access settings for the websites. I'd be inclined to have a rummage round the security settings. HTH. Pete

    Collet chuck not running true

Depending how true the register is in the first picture, and how it fits in the rear of the chuck, you could always machine a couple of thou off the diameter of the register to give you a bit of tweaking room. Only do this if Tin's suggestion does not give you a decent reading. Pete

3000 rpm on a Myford lathe

Rich Very clever solution. Put's me in mind of Baldrick, when he says..."Sire, I have a cunning plan...." Pete

This winter's project. A transmission for the 302 engine

George A magnificent example of craftmanship in metal. Having watched the project from Page 1, you have provided much inspiration along the way. What next I wonder... Pete

    Putting thin parts in 3-Jaw

Just mount a piece of 1 1/2" scrap metal in the chuck, and face the end. Stick your flywheel to that face with double-sided tape, cyno, shellac or any other wonder material. It does not have to be precisely concentric as you are only machining the back face of the flywheel. When the gentle...

    Briggs & Stratton 6S - A Beginnig

Brilliant job, Bill. FWIW, I think the second one looks better. Pete

    Small V8

Thanks for that. My comments were based on a procedure I had read about for blueprinting racing engines. Keep up the good work. Pete

    Small V8

Steve I have been following the thread from the beginning - absolutely brilliant. There did not appear to be a backstop in the chuck when you machined the piston tops. Is this something that is of no consequence, or will final machining be carried out after measuring piston heights on a fully...

It's not like I've never soldered before....

Brass is one of the easiest materials to soft solder. ;D I suspect that you are trying to get things too hot. This item is split along the front slot and soldered from two parts. (it's just a litle gadget to screw hooks in using a small battery drill) Pete

It's not like I've never soldered before....

From the description given it sounds like the part overheated, as already stated. For soft soldering, either a large soldering iron or one of those teeny weeny torches are usually adaquate. Would have to agree that the old tin/lead solder works best. I have read that if you try to use the old...

    Layout Blue

I always use cotton buds to apply marking out blue. If you are really careful, you can let it dry out, then turn it round and use the other end. If you are not too worried about the future of the planet just use one end, then put it in the bin. Pete

    Lathe benches?

Ernie That's a very neat bit of woodwork there. Looks like it would support a house. :) The advantage of making your own wooden bench is that you can tailor the height to your own exact requirements....especially important for those of us who don't like to bend too much Pete
