I've been watching a few videos on YouTube and seen a machinist hammer I'm going to try but when he polishes the aluminum he has what looks like a stick and two different colour what looks like blocks of soap. They must be a polishing compound but I carnt find them. Does anyone know the name of them
Hi everyone on my portass lathe model s when I turn the cross slide screw it turns the handle someway before it starts to move the cross slide what is this called and is there a way to lighten this up. Ive looked on ebay for a new screw for it but can only find one for the myford lathe.
Well ive decided to get a metal lathe my first project that I'm going to try is a hammer. Then I would love to make a simply engine. I don't have a milling machine or able to cast so not sure where to get started with that one. I was thinking of getting a milling attachment for my lathe.
Hi it's me again I have been trying to remove the Chuck today but carnt get it off im not sure how to remove it from the tail stock and what live center to get for it thanks guys I'll post a pic soon

Yes I have given it a bit of a paint and have started to clean it up this is how I got it set up and think it is some sort of clutch. I'm enjoying learning everything about the machine
Hi everyone I'm waiting on some more gears to come but on my portass you can switch over the gear but I carnt work out how to set it up do I need to move the banjo ive added some pics
