    Upshur Model Engine

I live near Frederick, MD. Pretty much the center of the state. I could meet you towards Baltimore possibly?

    Upshur Model Engine

I didn't build this one, I acquired it a few years ago at a sale. I'm 99% sure it's an "Upshur" engine. ~ 3 1/2" flywheels, no governor mechanism just throttled by hand. Seems complete a pretty well built, but low on compression. I haven't tried running it, it's just been a shelf ornament...

    Ic engine castings

I have an untouched casting kit for the Vaughn sideshaft engine made by Debolt: http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/showthread.php?t=25738

Untouched Vaughn Sideshaft Engine Casting Kit by Debolt

Anyone interested at $600? Cheaper than a new Debolt kit, and an out-of-production one at that.

Untouched Vaughn Sideshaft Engine Casting Kit by Debolt

I have a complete and untouched Vaughn sideshaft engine casting kit. Originally produced by Debolt, although they haven't made it for quite a few years now. This one is all there, well stored, and includes all the original paperwork, prints, build photos, brass nameplate, etc. Asking $700...

    Low tension ignition system

You can also just wind a coil in a couple minutes with a lathe and a spool of copper wire from RadioShack :)

My first I.C. engine, a variation on the theme of Webster

I'm still here and still working on the Webster when I have a chance. I had to modify a few small details in my plans. The cam roller retainer, which is basically just a small flanged nut, was supposed to have #4-40 threads inside but the walls were too thin and it kept breaking during...

    Hit & Miss IC engines.

Although my model isn't running, I do have a number of full-size H&M engines. I buy old motorcycle coils at sawp meets and such for a couple bucks. They're compact, potted to keep out moisture, and they're pretty small. You can use the primary side alone for a low-tension setup or use the...

My first I.C. engine, a variation on the theme of Webster

It's been too cold to spend too much time in the shop at once, but I've gotten a bit more done. I made the valve spring retainers, lapped the valves, and installed the valves and springs on the engine. I made a change to the prints (again) in the spring retainers. I counterbored the top side...

    Farm Boy Milestones

Was that crank left "as cast" or did you roughen those surfaces after machining to resemble cast? What material did you choose for the crank?

    Webster Build

I bought mine from CenturySpring. They have a $40 minimum order, so I bought springs for the Webster, the Farm Boy (future build), and a few standard sizes I'll find a use for someday to flesh out the order.

My first I.C. engine, a variation on the theme of Webster

It's not pinned in place until i get the came done, and without it being pinned it slides back and forth into the cutout I made in the baseplate. I don't want it getting dinged up. Hopefully soon it will be installed for good!

My first I.C. engine, a variation on the theme of Webster

Although I found some of Brian's earlier comments on this thread a bit harsh and one-sided I thought the most recent post about roller cams to be informative. In fact, upon further reflection I think my mistake in cam duration will help me because I didn't account for how the roller would...
