    Demon V8

Awesome, thanks for all of the great pics. I feel I am right there in the shop.

Lynx 15 - Single cylinder, 4-stroke, Air Cooled, Over Head Cam ICE

You have a very sharp eye, Jasonb. I cut the chamfers at the top of the crankcase too deep and as a result the cylinder flange hangs over the edges. I did as you suggested and machined a flat to hide the error. Below I am checking to see if I hit the proper width between the two machined...

Lynx 15 - Single cylinder, 4-stroke, Air Cooled, Over Head Cam ICE

Boy another hot day in the machine shop, but I am not going to even go into it as Terry Mayhugh has the record workshop temps record all sewn up. I am working on the crankcase assembly, specifically the cylinder. I load up a round of aluminum in the lathe, face the end and use progressively...

Lynx 15 - Single cylinder, 4-stroke, Air Cooled, Over Head Cam ICE

Continued work on the Front Crankcase for the Lynx15. I parted off the the work piece after completing the lathe work on the inside and outside. I loaded it back into the lathe reversing ends using a 4 jaw chuck. I used an indicator on the flange right next to the chuck jaws to center the work...

    A new ignition circuit

I attempted to use an Arduiuo to control the timing advance of my model engine and could never get it working. the Electromagnetic Interference from the ingition system always (eventually) killed the micro controller. I went from a CDI to a TCI (transistor controlled ignition) which was...

Lynx 15 - Single cylinder, 4-stroke, Air Cooled, Over Head Cam ICE

I’ve been looking for a simpler engine to build and I came across Malcolm Stride’s Lynx, a 4-stroke air cooled engine that uses a timing belt instead of gears to turn the camshaft. So I started noodling around with a CAD model with the intention of building my own version. I am looking to...

Anyone from New Zealand? Familiar with New Zealand? Travelling there looking for suggestions.

Hi, I will be traveling to New Zealand soon and as our hobby has adherents from all over the world, I was wondering if anyone could make recommendations of places I should make sure I see, or make sure I avoid. Quirky museums that an old machinist would appreciate? I will be spending several...

Little Demon V8 - helpful hints (hopefully)

Nicely done. I like to see how you are experimenting with ways to streamline the machining process when many copies of a part are required. "Mass production" really helps to produce a set of parts that are equivalent and not too time consuming.

I used a razor blade on one side as a shim to square mine up.

Interesting technique to minimize waste when producing so many cylinder sleeves, Bravo.

30cc Inline Twin 4-stroke Engine based on Westbury's Wallaby

I got a little help from Ellie in this installment of the Wallaby Build Series. There has been so much hype about AI, that I thought I would check out some of the tools available.

30cc Inline Twin 4-stroke Engine based on Westbury's Wallaby

Lantain1982, You have a great beginning on your 30cc Wallaby. I would like to see more pictures and follow your build log. What would you think about starting your own build thread? I will be an avid watcher.
