    CB750 Engine - 1/4 scale

So I've finished my first engine and designed the second - see pic. So far I've 3D printed the parts and made minor changes to the prototype. Hopefully start cutting metal soon. In the meantime the brain is working overtime... I own a 1971 Honda CB750 - finished rebuilding about 5 years ago...

    E. T. Westbury Warrior Mk II J. P. Bertinat sort of...

I'm getting used to FreeCAD now. A bit further along with the design and got the 3D printer working. I'll post an update when the frame and base are printed.

A bit more progress on the FreeCAD front. It's making more sense now. So I guess the next step is to work out how to 3D print the frame... Then build a small forge to melt a bit of aluminium... Fingers crossed

After a bit of work getting the hang of FreeCAD I've managed to produce this. Next step is to refine it a bit and try 3D printing. Damn you learning curve!!! Some thoughts: If I can find someone to cast this in alloy I'm wondering if a nylon cross-head running in the guide would work...

So I finished my first engine...

Hopefully this is what you mean. The piston/conrod is one piece turned from an old brass shaft. I would like to also say thank-you to everyone who has been so helpful with information and assistance. It's early days yet but i'm enjoying myself.

So I finished my first engine...

Thanks Rudy. Yes it's my design. Although I started with the bore/stroke from another design it's otherwise completely original using whatever I had at hand.

So after successfully finishing my first engine I'm looking at options for the next project. Nothing commercially available (that I can find) exactly fits what I have in mind. I don't intend to design-as-you-go this time. It will be fully designed before I start. Attached is a photo of an...

So I finished my first engine...

Bore (roughly)13.5 mm. Stroke 16 mm. Flywheel diameter 40 about mm and it stands about 90 mm tall. The crankshaft is about 6 mm diameter from a piece of an old engine push-rod (Maybe a Holden 186 I blew up in the early 80's - not sure) The flywheel is a piece of bronze bush bought to...

So I finished my first engine...

Thanks, Ok, so here goes. Disclaimer: If this works I haven't done anything to pretty it up yet.

So I finished my first engine...

Yes Folks, it's true Some would be aware that 25 - 30 years ago I started building an oscillating twin for the Miranda steam launch. The whole project stalled. Recently while moving house I found the cylinders and some other parts. Inspired to build, the basic dimensions from 'Steves' Simple...

    Crankshaft turning jig

I would assume photobucket has cleared out any old / inactive accounts. Unfortunately there's a lot of useful information lost in the process.

    Crankshaft turning jig

I, and I assume we, can't see the original photos. Maybe if someone is using this method could post some photos that would be terrific.

Some boiler questions (and hopefully my progress)

Thanks fellas, Good to know the Hebel is ok. I'll be going through Brisbane tomorrow so I'll check around. The bigger Bunnings might stock it

Some boiler questions (and hopefully my progress)

Well folks, I have another boiler related question... The steam engine is coming along and I'm ready to silver solder the frame so it's time to build a brazing hearth. Fire bricks are about $20 (Au) each here and CalSil is very expensive - about $30+ (Au) for a piece about 250 x 120 mm. Looking...
