Seems to run fine. The cool trick of this engine is the rotary type valve.

I built an engine from the Scraps and Solder article too. Scaled it up to 1" bore and it runs great. Here's the "plans" for what they are, but if you follow the instructions it will work.

The steam dome popped off on the first heat. Went back and used the proper silver solder and hard wire, basically brazing.

Good information. I have been test running my oscillating engine in my little boat. It lacks power. Probably a combination of problems I'm thinking of re-doing the cylinder to double acting, as well as insulating the boiler and steam line with string and lagging. Tips on increasing power...

Try turning the lights down low and attempting to start it - maybe the plug wire is arcing- on a nearby part of the engine
