    Credit where credit is due

    I love seeing the project-of-the-month photo at the top of the HMEM page. But there is nothing there to tell me who made it. I think it would be really nice if the creator's name were prominently displayed to give them the credit they've earned. Or better yet have the creator sign the photo...

    Trying out metric

    So, if I'm going to make an engine I'm going to need a shop. If I'm going to have a shop I'm going to need a workbench. Went to the store today and got materials for a workbench. Saw a tape measure with a metric scale. Thought I might as well start getting used to metric measurements. WOW...

    Super Power steam (air) and a model engine

    I just finished reading a book on superpower locomotives. If I have it straight they achieved the super power by heating the steam after it came out of the boiler from about 300 F to 700 F by running it through pipes in the fire tubes of the boiler. Apparently this extra heat allowed more work...

    I haven't done much work with metal so I'm curious how you handle cleanup when you are done working. Questions come to mind such as: 1. Swarf getting stuck in your shoes and being tracked into the house or vehicle. 2. Do you use an apron or overalls or ??? to keep the oil and curlicues off...
