    Downsizing...photo intensive

Nice one. The thought of having to pick the contents of those drawers out of your lathe and off the bench and floor had me nervous on your behalf. Well done on such a great piece of effective space use. Getting the bike in there too is most impressive. A perfect escape from the soapies on tele.

Great job getting all of that gear into your new shed. your top shelf has a bit of a bow in it though. could you fit a bit of timber under it or another bracket to shore it up?

All fabricated Rider-ericsson hot air pumping engine

Modelman, What a lovely build. You have done a great job of that engine. I would love to make something similar when my skills catch up with my ambitions a little. John, I believe there is something similar outlined in ET Westburies A Practical Treatise on Hot Air Engines. I will check it...

    Elmers #14 Wobble Plate

Nice to know. I'll have to get to echuca one year. Its only a few hours up stream of mildura. I made it to lake goldsmith when I was living in Horsham. Great day out and more engines than I could get a good look at. Cheers, Nickle

    Harold Hall's precision grinding table

I have a copy of the book (not on hand at the moment) and looked for the answer to this little issue in detail after reading some posts on this and other forums about the dangers of grinding on the side of the wheel. There is a small section in the text recommending that the grinding table or...

Greetings from an Aussie in Finland!

Welcome Trizza, I remember a trizza who had a clisby lathe page when I was researching machine tool purchases. Was that yours? If it was , I enjoyed it. ! Anyway, welcome and I look forward to hearing of your progress. Cheers, Nickle

Welcome from Mildura Australia. Congratulations on securing the house for starters! I find I learn a lot from the postings on this forum. There are some nice compiled build logs in the download section that you may get a bit out of as well. Hope you find a bargain and get hold of some gear to...

    Hello from Denmark

Welcome Holt, Your work at lego must have helped to start a love for building and creation in many children. I know that I loved mine as a kid and the technic stuff started me on the way to being an engineer. I am still getting joy out of it helping my kids learn and build. My first car was an...

    Elmer's pumping engine #17

I always liked the look of that engine in the book. Your version is fantastic. You should be proud of that one. One day when I get my act together I hope I can manage something half as nice as that.

Casting Engine Components For a Twin

Looking good Artie. This is going to be an impressive paddle steamer when you are done. I've been promising the kids we could go on a paddle steamer one day... I wonder if the PS Melbourne is running while the river is up? I think the Ruby is taking passengers now too. I'll have to...

Another Reason to buy or make a diamond tool holder

Looks Great Chuck. I was thinking of trying this style of tangential cutter myself. I was intending to drill holes on the appropriate angle in a block for a toolholder and start using up my stash of old drill bits. Like John says, it wont cut a perfect circle but it should give you a great...

Casting Engine Components For a Twin

Good job on a tough casting. I have found those large flat ones to be difficult to get right. You need to have the metal hot to get it to run that far and then it shrinks a bit unevenly. Warmish here in Mildura today, I reckon you earned your beer. Have you put all the bits on for a mock up yet...
