    my lathe needs more torque.

Changing the motor pulley (on the 350 watt motor version) from 17 to 12 teeth provides 28% torque increase (comparable to that provided by the 500 watt motor). Details in Home Shop Machinist Vol 32, #3 (May/June 2013). I have not tried this mod, however.

    B2227L Reverse Tumbler

Some time ago "digiex-chris" posted: http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/showthread.php?t=19212 with a drawing to make a reverse tumbler for this Busy Bee 10 inch lathe. Well, I added it to my to-do list but other things kept intruding. Now, I need to cut a left-hand thread. Looking at the...

    Bench grinder setups

The diamond wheels that I have seen (flaring cup or dished wheel in shape) have a much larger bore - around 1 inch diameter - than the standard grey/white wheels. The grey/white wheels mount on the grinder arbor with a shaft adapter if required. The larger diamond hub appears to be secured by 3...

    EDM plans

I was browsing old posts & came across this http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/f12/spark-erosion-tap-extractor-16497/. There were links to Lynn Anfinson's Poor-Man's EDM. Unlike most of the plans that I have seen his was running from a car battery, eliminating the house current from the...

    Busy Bee CT129N drawbar replacement

I purchased the machine, installed it & ran it thru the break-in period but - long story - did not actually use it. When I went to use it the installed drawbar would not engage my tooling which was 3/8-16. I had a look inside the MT3 taper and the drawbar thread looked too large. Strange, as the...

    Ryobi Bandsaw Conversion ?

If keeping the price down is driving the conversion then you might consider building a powered hacksaw: lot simpler construction. I used plans from Pop Mechanics, Feb 1976 but there are lots of plans available. A real workhorse, I modified the plans a bit to take a larger blade -Starrett made...

    Busy Bee CT129N drawbar replacement

"...remove the large chrome nut/drawbar lock... " There is a photo of the top of my spindle in the Photo section (Category=Tools; Album=Dunc). I have removed the plastic spindle cap & the yellow motor shroud. The metal plate surrounding the gear wheel (part of the speed readout) is the base...

    Busy Bee CT129N drawbar replacement

Wondering if anyone has removed the drawbar from this machine? It is apparently captive in the spindle. I would like to replace it. I spoke with a BB rep and he seemed to think it could be removed once the tooling it holds is released. No go. Does it come out upwards or downwards (dropping out...
