    Selecting a Variable Speed Motor for Test Set-Ups

    How about a new cheap variable speed drill? They're pretty cheap and readily available at Harbor Freight (no affiliation). That would probably be fairly versatile with either a 3/8" or a 1/2" chuck. Some drills are still variable with the trigger locked. You might even own a drill already too...

    I originally had the displacer bushing in brass, then two graphite bushings. Again second one on the motor. It machines super easy and takes very fine details! The threads came out just as nice as the brass one! Solid, just like a pencil lead!

    My 2 pistons were both very dense with no voids. The first one was EDM graphite, & I thought that might be a little to hard.     The Graphite works amazingly well on these relatively low power motors. I really doubt you would get similar results using graphite as a lubricating medium! You should first concentrate on getting the cylinder polished up as high as you can get it. I used a bronze cylinder in mine with a mirror...
