    Fuel bowls?

I was unsure if they could be purchased or if I had to improvise. Improvisation it is! Thanks for the suggestions guys. Steve.

    Fuel bowls?

Hi all, My next engine is going to be a 2cc compression ignition engine. The plans show the use of a fuel bowl but no datails. So where do you engine builders get these bowls from? Thanks, Steve.

    Tool Holders

Hi Peter, I would be nervous of using it for parting off. Having a nasty dig in would be the ultimate test. I make my own T2 holders out of damaged fork lift truck forks. If you can get some the steel makes for very tough tool holders. Steve.

    B.J. Cicada build

Hi werowance, I came across some great videos a couple of days ago of the correct starting procedure for ci engines. I really wish I'd seen these before spending hours trying to start my Cicada. Having now built a couple of these types of engines I have a better feel for them and there is a...

New 2.5 cc Model Diesel design and build.

And the penny drops ! Thank you diesel pilot. A quick glance at the drawing you've linked to made me realise my school boy error. I can now do the math using the cosine rule.

My go at the Holly Buddy

Sorry if my explanation is unclear. The prop driver, after being flipped, was chucked at all times and the nose, bearing and crankshaft assembly were offered upto it. I didn't bush the nose or the conrod. My engine will never see flight. I made it purely for the fun of it. The nose bore...

New 2.5 cc Model Diesel design and build.

Hello all. Having recently finished the engine I found myself with a desire to design my own engine based loosely on Eds "Holly Buddy" and David Owens "Owen Mate". That is a Front Rotary Valve (FRV) engine that would be relatively easy to design and build for a beginner like myself. Immediately...

My go at the Holly Buddy

Hi Nautilus29, Ed will, no doubt, be along shortly to answer your questions. I've recently finished building this great little engine so it's still relatively fresh in my mind. As far as the prop driver to nose clearance is concerned. What I did was to finish machine the nose piece and the...

New 2.5 cc Model Diesel design and build.

Hello Gerard and Ed, Thanks for your kind words. I ran the engine again today. I'm still running it in . Having very little experience of these engines every start is a learning for me. I really would like to design my own engine but I just don't have the required knowledge...

    Nemett 15cc Engine plans

I know this is an old post but I'm interested in the book. I have a set of plans but would really benefit from the book. I know it's a long shot. Steve.

New 2.5 cc Model Diesel design and build.

Hi Ed, I can't find a 3.6mm PAW spraybar. Would it be possible to measure the relevant dimensions so I could make my own. This would be my second build so I do not have much experience in these things. Thanks. Steve.

    B J Cicada engine

This is a timely post. I dug my BJ Cicada engine out last night. Thought I'd give it a whirl. Mmm. Would only run for a maximum of 5 to 10 seconds ? Anyway, I like the way you've set yours up for display. I especially like the wooden prop. Great job. Steve.

    B J Cicada engine

Hi Joe, That's the shoulder I was trying to describe. It should protrude .005" beyond the front bearing housing. The collet then butts to it. I think I reamed the collet to size then split the collet. Steve

    B J Cicada engine

Hi Joe, I haven't got the drawings in front of me but from memory the inner collet butts up against a shoulder on the crankshaft. So as you tighten the prop nut up the prop driver is driven up the split inner collet and locks up. Did you cut the tapers of the collet and prop driver at the same...

Project of the Month - June 2015

I followed this build from start to finish. It's actually inspired me to start my own build of the same engine. Well deserved winner and thanks for sharing Swifty. Steve.
