The standard setup for these sorts of engines is 90 degrees phase difference between the displacer and the power piston.

Very nice looking engine. You may try nylon washers between the brass spacers and the plates as well as between the screws and the plates.

This type of tool holder along with an http://www.gadgetbuilder.com/ThreadingTools.html#AutoStop could be a very nice combination for lots of threading operations.

I am already thinking of my next engine build. Senft suggests the use of dashpots in the displacer rod. I am assuming these would limit the noise significantly as well as reduce the violent accelerations the displacer is subjected to.
