    Burgess BK2 Bandsaw questions

Thank you for posting the BK3 manual Peter, but there are two page 5's (6.jpg and 7.jpg) and no page 6.

    My self-made knurler

Yes. The lid is in two parts because of the very deep recess. Doing it in one piece would use too much support material.

Here's my version that I made some years ago.

    Fusion 360/Linuxcnc computers

I run F360 quite happily on my ancient machine that has a Core i5-4460 processor, NVIDIA Geforce GT 705 graphics., and 12GB memory. Native Win10.

    Printer Calibration

I use Cura with an Ultimaker 3. Unfortunately, it turns out that shrinkage varies between different makes of PLA, and even different colours from the same maker.

    Whaaaat? Could it be?

As others have said, replace the 1ph motor with a 3ph motor and a VFD. As a general rule of thumb, when running a motor with a VFD, the motor will give constant torque when run at frequencies at or below it's rated frequency (ie 50Hz in UK or 60Hz in USA), and constant power at frequencies...

    Parting tool chatter

A rear-mounted tool-post is one of the best ways of reducing parting-off chatter.

    Fusion 360 replacement

Have you considered installing Win7 as a virtual machine running under Win10? I'm in UK and have just received issue 309 of PCPro magazine which contains a 3 page article about how to do this for free, using a program that can be downloaded from a link supplied in the magazine. Since I don't...

    Fusion 360 replacement

Personally, I'm a fan of Fusion 360, but there is a version of SolidEdge 3D that is free for hobbyists, it's called SolidEdge Community Edition and can be downloaded from ***HERE***

    Fusion 360 replacement

My first CAD system was a DOS program called EasyCad. It came on a single floppy disk, was strictly 2D, and a welcome 'upgrade' from paper and drawing instruments. Dimensioning worked but was very crude. Then TurboCAD came out. It was still 2D and, at first I didn't like it, but I persevered...

Cam Calculations SOLVED! (But is there an easier way??)

You can also do it in Fusion 360,

    Fusion 360 for a beginner

I've found that I tend to make most progress from having to finish a personal project rather than by following tutorials. I then discovered the Autodesk Community of the Philippines (see https://tinyurl.com/yyzno8ye). This was quite different. It's actually a series of monthly challenges...

    Fusion 360 for a beginner

This is not so. It is still free for hobbyists, except that collaboration and importing of propriety formats (such as Solidworks files etc) is not available. I know of no hobbyists that used collaboration, and all non-propriety formats can still be imported.

    Fusion 360 for a beginner

I do a lot of work for the REMAP charity (see www.remap.org.uk) and use F360 for my design work. I used to use TurboCad but, as has been already stated, changing a Tcad model is often harder than redrawing it. 3D modelling is what F360 is all about, and its very good at it, but its also rather...

    tangential holder , angles ?

Here are the drawings I created for making my tangential tool. The original idea came from Mike Cox. I increased the size a little and made a few minor changes. It's my go-to tool for turning. https://tinyurl.com/ufpqc73

Variable speed control for a small lathe

When I converted my lathe from 1ph single speed to 3ph + VFD, I was dismayed when I opened the control box to find a mass of relays and a network of wires. It seemed horribly complicated until I realised that one relay was for implementing the NVR switch, and the other relays were just for...

    Solidworks for Mac?

What PART modelling functions does Fusion lack? I'm not aware of any deficiencies wrt SolidWorks. Its built-in CAM facility is excellent and is able to generate many dialects of gcode, including MACH3. It also has a powerful, built-in, stress analysis system. It has a different paradigm to...
