    DRO choice

    I've had Shooting Stars on my mill (2 axis) and lathe for 12 years now, and they have performed very nicely. I had some questions early on, and found their customer service to be excellent and supportive. The new model readouts look to be even better than the originals, for (IIRC) the same price.

    Good Lathe Deal from Enco

    There's a 12x36 lathe group on Yahoo where a lot of the guys have this lathe. One thing they don't like is the control handles, no knobs to protect your hands....one guy stuck golf balls (!) on the ends. Others, I think, have bought the plastic ball-ends that Enco sells for not a lot of money...

    Craftsman 109 4 jaw chuck help needed

    Mine (3 inch 4 jaw, original to lathe as best I know) appears to be a 9/16-14 square thread (not v-form). Not even an Acme thread, these are square-cut. I do measure 14 tpi for sure. If you can't find a suitable tap --- and that's likely--- you might be able to cut one out of O1 rod and maybe...
