Sorry for the late reply, I'm just home from a sudden 10 day hospital stay. I don't see any reason to not use methane as a fuel. Gas turbines run on just about any hydrocarbon. The appropriate precautions for containing the methane would be the biggest drawback. I've seen a build of a 2:1...

Fabinho, The reason there are no nozzle drawings is I never drew them. There didn't seem much point in making nozzles until testing of the turbine section was completed. When I get the new turbine wheel and NGV completed I will start on the nozzles. Regards, Steve.

fabinho, Do you have a link to schematics and specifications of this sensor board ? There should not be any changes needed to the arduino side if this sensor board produces a TTL compatible +5v signal and has the equivolent magnetic sensitivity of the the original design. Regards, Steve.

That's just another bypass cap, 0.1uf, preferably a monolithic ceramic, but any cap will do. Regards, Steve.

Hi fabinho, Are you referring to the SS495 hall effect device ? If so perhaps this link will clear things up. http://www.digikey.com/catalog/en/partgroup/ss495-series/12446 My circuit uses the SS495A device. Any 10uf capacitor can be used, they are just bypass caps. I just prefer tantalum caps...

help/advice with the sieg sx2 benchmill

+1, I went with a counter weight, properly adjusted gibs and dial indicator. The z-axis dial on my X2 was .060" per turn and had about a whole turn of backlash, making the dial useless for measurement. Regards, Steve.

Yes, the RPM sensor is magnetic. The spinner nut has 2 rare earth magnets like these, http://www.kjmagnetics.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D31 The spinner nut was built using this as a guide. http://www.5bears.com/magnut.htm Regards, Steve.

Hi fabinho, Here are the schematics for the arduino board and for the RPM sensor. The arduino board The RPM Sensor board I'm not sure if the max6675 module is still available, but this is a replacement http://www.adafruit.com/products/269 The arduino code...

Hi fabinho, Thanks for your comment. The GR180 was not designed by me, the original designer is Gerald Rutten. The arduino project I used with my GR180 is not a FADEC, it is a combined tachometer, temperature guage and glowplug driver. I'd be happy to post schematics and the code if you're...

    Another X2 Mod thread

I spent the day making an adapter to mount a dial indicator to the ways of my lathe, this gave me my first real test of the mill since the epoxy granite fill. All I can say is, wow! what a difference, the vibration absorption has radically improved. Any moderately heavy cut previously would...

How do i make left treads on my lathe

From reading the name plate, you need to mount the 80 tooth gear under the 66. Mount the 75 tooth gear on the same shaft as the 80 tooth. Mount the 50 tooth gear on the leadscrew shaft with a spacer so it meshes with the 75 tooth gear. For RPM I would run at the slowest RPM the lathe has, My...

How do i make left treads on my lathe

On the c6 / grizzly g0516 there should be a tapped hole to mount a 40t reversing idler gear wheel, the mounting hole is up near the spindle. Also the existing 40t gear needs to be moved. There are details in the manual which you can read here http://grizzly.com/products/g0516 The reverse setup...

    Merlin V12

Yep, and while making about 1.1 bar of pressure it will absorb approximately 1-2 hp. Not good for overall efficiency. Steve.
