    Arduino Etch-a-Sketch?

Have you seen this?? http://rasterweb.net/raster/projects/makeasketch/ Not exactly what you wanted, but close and cheap. You can also search for Grbl. It's silly simple software for Arduino to run g code.

    Drill Sharpener

A drill bit will always drill a hole with clearance. It's the very rare exception when it doesn't. It's simply using the correct tool for the job at hand. If you need to hold a tolerance than you should bore, or ream a hole to size.

Electronic Dividing Head using the Arduino

cfellows sorry for the thread hi-jack. I'll leave it with this; I chose the Arduino because it has a ton of support. There are shields and sketches everywhere I look. That's probably the single most important thing to have for someone getting started, short of a mentor standing over your...

Electronic Dividing Head using the Arduino

I thought about getting the correct driver just to have it working, and probably will. About 8 or 9 years ago I started with an Oopic microcontroller, not sure if you've heard of them or not. Anyway I was just getting started with it when I was deployed to Iraq. Long story short, by the time I...

Electronic Dividing Head using the Arduino

Well that would certainly make sense. I guess I should have said first time Arduino and stepper user, but that was probably evident. Looks like I need to learn some C. Thanks again for the reply and sharing your sketch.

Electronic Dividing Head using the Arduino

I need a little help please. I'm a first time user of an Arduino so bear with me. I have a Uno, Sainsmart LCD shield, but i'm trying to use an H-bridge stepper driver. It uses 4 wires instead of 2 like the Pololu. I tested it through the LCD shield using "stepper_onestepatatime" from the Arduino...

    New cnc Lathe build.

You would normally use a braking resistor to bleed off back-feed. There are dedicated circuits built for this: http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=64_77&products_id=335 It might give you an idea of what you need to build one.

    New cnc Lathe build.

Assuming you will be belt driving the spindle, you probably want to run the encoder off the spindle. There's no sense scrapping a part because of a belt slip. FYI Mach uses a single pulse per rotation if I remember correctly. It works, but it's far from ideal. I've seen people use 2 encoders...

    Bridgeport Mill

Don't rule out BP clones. There were a handful of clones built in the 80's that rival and arguably outperform a BP. Something else to consider is tool speeds. If the majority of use will be smallish, you might want to look for something with faster spindle speed. If you play with a...
