    Digital Read Out Problems

I may be missing something, but why not use AA Lithium rechargeable batteries?

    Sieg X2 Mill? and lathe?

At that price it would come with me regardless of whether it had an R8 spindle. I have one of these mills with an MT3 spindle and it is a very capable little mill/drill, I don't think that R8 is really an advantage on these smaller mills as a lot of the tooling for R8 is on the big side. I...

    Problems With New Lathe

Well it does, it stops the motor so that you can't go from forward to reverse and vice versa without stopping first.

    Problems With New Lathe

Mark, as you know I have the same lathe. You're doing the switch on in the wrong sequence. Put Fwd/Rev switch in desired position Push Green start switch It'll work. Still reckon you have something rubbing on the guard if the noise disappears when you open it.

    Extending tailstock quill travel

On both my metal lathe and my wood lathe I find that a tailstock quill travel of (barely) 40mm (more like 35mm) is not enough for some of the drilling operations I do. It isn't as bothersome on the metal lathe because the bed is a V bed and withdrawing the whole tailstock, clearing the drill...

    AQCTP

I have the CDCO QCTP and quite a few of their holders and they are indeed just fine, no problems at all. In fact everything I have purchased from CDCO has been as advertised and is of good quality.

    Tacho

Cool tool! Would hate to think how much that would have cost at the time, probably several weeks average wage. Now you can buy the electronic equivalent on Ebay for a few dollars!

    Combination drawbar tool

Thanks all, as to how I did it: Cut 60mm long piece of 30mm 360 brass Drilled a hole in one end to 13mm, then used boring bar to counterbore to size of 18mm hex socket Pressed in socket, tapered end of brass to meet socket Faced other end of brass, made total length 60mm Skimmed diameter to...

    Combination drawbar tool

Too hot to do anything too strenuous in the shed today, 6th consecutive day over 35 and we're still in spring I seem to be always looking for either a spanner or a mallet when I have to do up or undo the drawbar on both my 9x20 metal lathe and my X2 Mini Mill. As luck would have it, they both...

Christmas gifts and learning how to hand turn!

Yes, I often do, although I prefer to use my wood lathe, the saddle on the metal lathe tends to get in the way a bit. I do turn a lot of polyester resin blanks on my metal lathe, turn to to max OD required, then transfer to wood lathe for final shaping by hand turning. The autofeed on the...

Christmas gifts and learning how to hand turn!

Funnily enough, have never had a problem, go figure in this "security gone mad" world! In fact I sold one of the bullet pens to a security person at the airport! As well as the bullet pens, I make bullet pen kits for other pen turners and have mailed these all over the world, including to the US.
