    Bridgeport power feed...old

I contacted the gentleman I sold the feed drive to and the attached plate (info) only mentioned 'reversing the motor directions'. There appears to be "no" info on wiring. It may be a point best answered at your motor repair shop . Sorry I can't be of assistance here . Regards, Philip

    Bridgeport power feed...old

Hello, I inherited an old badly cared for power feed. I think it came with the mill new (1987 serial n.). Tried the 220 just to see if things went poof....they did. Took front the cover plate(high/low plate) and what a disaster...totally oxidized. I have pics if you have a strong stomach. Took...

    bad T-nuts

Thank You All for this info. I don't have my mill up & running yet, so I went to local MCK store and ordered (4) 1/4 x 20 T-slot nuts and I will attach an appropriate stud and get this lathe up & running. I will also drill 2 more holes for stability sake & will deal with the shortfall of...

Hello Again, I have an "Optimum 8" x 15" " lathe. Sweet running little lathe but with glitches everywhere. I recently noticed some chattering when making small material removal...chattering of a different nature than typical lack of lube or wrong speed, etc. I took the tool holder compound off...

    VFD ...yea or nay

Well, there you are ! After previously breaking the sad news to my wife on my money needs for the new shop, there is a new glimmer of hope for some more extras, if I follow Dman's and others advice , go with a static for the comprsr. & VFD for the mill . She was nearly happy when I told her of...

Thank You All again....so very helpful !! I almost expected the responses received...VFD seems just not the right application. But nothing is lost here from this thread. I have learned a room full of info . Probability will be to check on pricing for one 10hp rotary phase converter to run...

Greetings to All, My question is a straight one so please be direct. My new Bridgeport J mill (actually an old machine) has a 2 hp w/3 phase. I have no 3ph in my new shop & I want to skirt around the costs of a rotary converter. Can I use a good VFD w/230vac input for my 2hp/3ph mill motor ? The...
