Hi Gary
Thanks for your post on installing your DRO on the SX3. Really helped my install.
Can you give any information on your Xaxis power feed- looks very interesting. What is the maximum speed of the drive motor? any other info would be most helpful

I am now totally confused. If your concentrate is 236 g/L and your injector ratio is 21:1 i.e. 1ml per 20ml of flow then I believe your sprinkler concentration will be approx 11.2g/L and not 1g/L.
One of us has it arse about somehow.
Somehow I think your injector ratio is really 236:1...
Hi Rod
Thanks very much for taking the time to update your fertilisation procedure.
The info on the Fertiliser (GF9) and the application rate is very helpful. If I read your post correctly your injector is injecting at a ratio of 236:1 ( 236g/L concentrate gives 1g/L at the sprinkler). My...
Hi Rod
What is the dilution ratio of your venturi injector?
Also what soluble fertilizer will you use?
I have tried Aquasol but have trouble getting it to dissolve at 40g/l which is required for my injector.
By the way how is your Ditron DRO going. My new Sieg Runmaster lathe came with a...
Hi timoxx4
Sorry if your situation is more difficult than mine. If it was my lathe I would remove the compound to see how the actual post is attached under the compound. Then just mount the compound on the mill and mill off the centre boss. I assume the larger boss is flat on top since that...
Hi Rod
Saw your post on adapting a BXA to your new lathe and it gave me confidence to tackle mine. Just bought a Sieg Runmaster 330x 1000 lathe and it had a old style toolpost with a insert post. No T slot in the compound like American machinery.
It had a european post similar to yours. The...
Hi Jasonb
thanks for the info on searching for "Trapizoidal Lead Screw". I have now found Metric ACME with the right size & pitch and even anti backlash nuts. Just have to enquire about price & Shipping

Also thanks and apologies. I didn't think that you might have a imperial...
Hi dnalot (Mark)
Thanks for an interesting post and sharing great information. I also have a SX3 with some backlash in the leadscrews which I would like to eliminate.
Can you please answer a few Q's.
Does the ACME threaded rod come in metric 2mm pitch to match the SX3 leadscrews? There...
Hi Mark
I also have a Sieg SX3 which does most of what I require. My main desire is for a power feed on the Z axis rather than the X. It takes a large amount of winding to raize and lower the head for cutter changes etc. I have a Vertex 4" vice on my mill and I think it is about as large as can...
Hi Dickeybird
Have you seen the article by Alex Du Pre in the latest two issues of Model Engineers Workshop magazine.
He details his installation of a DRO to an X3 and in particular demonstates how he fitted the Y axis with a stationary readhead. I will be attempting something similar with my...
Hi Dickeybird
Two comments
1 Measure the actual travel of all three axis and make sure the travel length of the scales you order are greater than these measurements. Longer is not a problem within reason but shorter will destroy the read head. Scales are normally specified by the travel with...
Hi Roy
Sorry but i did not buy the tormach knurling tool.
LMS swapped it out of the kit for me & replaced it with another straight tool holder. You can't have too many straight holders(250-001)
I would suggest a scissors knurling tool as recommended above for the same reasons

Hi Roy
I have a Tormach OXA QCTP ( from LMS) fitted to my Sieg SC4 lathe.
The standard Tool holder for this QCTP is labelled 250-001 and measures roughly 0.162" from the bottom of the holder to the bottom of the groove which holds the tool.
This means that with a 1/4' tool bit the...
