I have a WiFi controlled CNC plasma running grbl.
I used a headless raspberry pi on the CNC which runs bcnc as the gcode sender to a uno based CNC board.
This has the advantage of being able to control the CNC from a smart phone, tablet, or PC. Or all three simultaneously!!
I would normally do...
Great info, thanks.
The resin I have is a 4:1 resin / hardener ratio and is a laminating resin so is quite thin. You get about a 20min pot life and about an hour to harden. It takes 24hrs to reach max strength.
I have used it before to make a few cores which went ok apart from the stench of the...
When using your resin bonded sand, do you use a release agent on the pattern to prevent it sticking?
I have a fair amount of epoxy resin left over from another project and so thought I might try it for bonding sand.
I used to make silencers for 2 and 4 stroke F3a aerobatic models as a commercial business. I found that the first chamber closest to the engine needs to be at least 10 times the capacity of the engine. The bigger the better. Then two more smaller chambers of unequal size to prevent synchronized...
Wow. That's it!
Dimensions all match perfectly.
There is no mention of "Battiwallah" on the plans that I have. Well done for recognising the engine.
The kit I got contained poor quality sand castings. So I guess O. B. Bolton has done a cheap knock off of the original kit and passed it all off as...
I am not a big fan of the welded approach. The tension within a structure can be like a wound up spring in storage and unless you can normalize the entire finished component, there is likely to be movement over time. I dont have the capacity to bring a part the size of a shaper ram or lathe bed...
Thanks Stan.
I found this on youTube.

Interesting design.
Joe from Advanced Innovations has some wonderful content and have been watching his channel for some time.
The miniature lathe, pedestal grinder, and pedestal drill in his latest series are exceptional. They are however, at a much smaller scale than what is being proposed here.
I am looking at...
A video of it in action on
A video of it on action on steel would be awesome.
Do the ways wear quickly? The aluminium on steel seems like it would wear quickly. But then alloy pistons run in steel liners without wearing prematurely.
I hope your health improves.
Chris.
Thanks Ron, yes I have seen it advertised. Information is scares though.
Do you know of any that have been built?
I suspect I would have trouble getting bright rectangular material for that machine but it looks like a solid machine.
So, on to the next casting attempt.
I have to admit, I rarely do inverstment casting. I usually am casting in green sand and is something I do often.
But the few investment castibgs I have done in the past have gone well. Up until now!!
Son I printed out another set of patterns from PLA, filed...
