Hi, I'm a dedicated TurboCAD user and have been since V14. It cannot do all the things Solidworks can do but for 15% of the price, for its' top of the range package, it's pretty damn good. One thing I would say is if you want to use 3D modeling, whatever package you select there is a learning...

I.C., steam, air poll, please participate!!

Personally, I feel that castings are a model representation of the full sized machine be the design a scale down or freelance. So the castings where possible should be of the same metals as the full size engine type. Best Regards Bob

    8" Steel Scotch Boiler

Hi Gene, Thanks for stopping by. My 3 in 1 is a Shillito C316 DC machine i.e. it won't weld aluminium and AC machines are big bucks plus this function is not important to me. Your tube expander sounds OK to me. I found some plans on the net and intend to make my own. Mine will be what is in...

Maybe try sweep or rail sweep with both twist and draft angle along a path between start and finish sections. Hope this helps and works for you. Best Regards Bob

    Converting metric prints to imperial

The easy way to convert imperial to metric is to use 24mm = 1in. This gives a slightly smaller model in metric than the imperial original but most standard imperial sizes convert to standard metric sizes e.g. 1/4" = 6mm. Try it and you may be pleasantly surprised at the result. Best Regards Bob

    Threading with an AL320G Lathe

Firstly, my apologies you are correct 0.7 and 0.8 mm pitches were missing but so are those below 0.35mm and those above 4mm. I have added those to a newly attached chart. As far as the feeds go, it would appear the basic difference between the half nuts and the feed gears is 1:3, i.e. 3mm on...

    Maryak's Hit and Miss Engine

Yes, it fell off the bench and I've been messing about with boilers and my daughters emergency fire pump, (she's at Kangarilla). Got the pump running, the recoil starter collapsed so they bought a new one. Now they have 2!! Still it's better than Zero:) Best Regards Bob
