Retailer, I wouldn't let lack of cnc put you off Steve's plans. Just work round the problems as they occur. Most things can be made without cnc, although it is a lot trickier sometimes. I've never used any cnc. Look at the complex shapes George Britnell creates using manual machines.

Peter, I know you said the part is just about scrap now, but if you wanted to experiment further, just out of interest, then could you set up a lash up anodising tank? Plastic bowl, battery acid, bit of lead sheet and 12 volt supply. I would be surprised if the tap wasn't out in under 2 hours...

Thought I would post a quick update, for those that haven't seen the progress. I'm on the final straight now, just some tidying up with bolts, etc. and some work on the cam covers around the spark plugs, and then it's ready to run. I have had it running on a small carb but it's now got the fuel...
