Protection to Micro lathe power supply?

Hello, I have a micro lathe that runs on 24V DC. The motor is 150W. I have an Amazon power supply for 24V rated for 25A. I had it burning in the past when the motor would stall. Are there any electronic devices for low voltage DC that can protect the power supply when the motor stalls? My...

Is this rod appropriate for piston rings & cylinder liners?

Thanks everyone for your answers. I haven't tried machining it yet, but looks like it's steel then. I saw that there are cast iron pipe connectors in the local hardware store that are quite cheap, I will probably buy those instead.

Is this rod appropriate for piston rings & cylinder liners?

Hello all, I am building an internal combustion 4 stroke engine and experimenting with different materials. I have a few of these tools that have a pipe-like shape and I was wondering how can I know if this is steel or iron. Would it be suitable for making piston rings and/or cylinder liners?

    Cylinder misalignment question

Hello, I am building my first engine (4 stroke spark ignition) and one of the questions I have is regarding how much error is accepted in the position between the crankshaft and the cylinder. Theoretically they should be perpendicular, but does anyone know if a slight angle deviation will...

Would a brass crankshaft work on a model engine?

Thanks everyone for your input. I am making the webs out of brass and will make the shaft out of steel and will solder it with silver. That should make the process much easier. Thank you again for the ideas

Would a brass crankshaft work on a model engine?

Hello, I know that the ideal choice for crankshaft is steel but I have a watchmaker Emco Unimat 3 lathe and it's difficult to machine large steel components. I am working on a small boxer 4 engine and have already made some components (engine block, cylinder sleeves, pistons, etc.) And now...

    Boxer 4 cylinder engine

Hello Minh, thank you for the response. I thought of making the engine with one cylinder first, utilizing the same block, crankshaft, and cam shaft, so that once I get it to work, using one cylinder, I can add the other three. And I will try to find the cam lobe parameters on the forum that...

    Boxer 4 cylinder engine

Hello all I´m Igor and I am new to this forum. First of all I want to apologize if I say something ignorant in this post, I am a beginner in this hobby and do not have much experience. I am designing a boxer engine that I want to build. I took the blueprints from the VW boxer engine and...

    Metal casting at home

Hello Pat J. Thank you for all your messages and links with references. I saw the videos from Kelly Coffield on lost-foam backyard casting. The results are impressive, but I agree that making the patterns is very tedious, and since I don´t have a CNC mill or router, I will not use that method...
