OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

I tried to upload the video with the issue fixed but I think it's too heavy. I'll upload it to Youtube and then edit this post with the link to it.

OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

I was having a fuel issue that after few seconds of idling it would rev up and die like it was using all the gas in the carb and starve to death, it took me some time (too long) to realise what the problem was. The second spigot that most of the rc engines have it crimped (where the priming...

That makes sense, thanks Mitch. I'm one step closer today. I made the sensor/ magnet/magnet rings, Yes that's right is not a typo I had to make two magnet rings because I made the first one really nice, straight flush with the sensor one and then realised why the ones they make commercially have...

OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

Got it!!! The other thing is kind of stressing me out is that my engine came with the "infamous" conrods. The sencond engine I don't know it looks unrun so I don't feel like opening it but the serial# is lower than the beated one so I guess conrods are the same. So I have mixed feelings about...

OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

Hello, I thought I post what I've done so far and may be get some input to improve (not on the cosmetics I already know they look ugly and even worse on picture than to the naked eye). Hopefully some sanding will get rid of the ugliness. I still have to drill few holes to attach it to the engine...

OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

Thanks! I'm leaving town now for a couple of weeks, when I come back I will have the bearings to take engine #1 apart, see the inside condition and then start machining the magnet and sensor rings ( which I think would be the easier parts).

Well... I managed to get a second FT240. This one looks a lot more like it will run (at least in the pictures) So now I can experiment on the beaten one and if the worse happen I have extra parts...

OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

Thanks!!!! Great info! I haven't thought of the flaring tool. My thought was to make a insert tool of steel with the shoulder and insert it on the tail end chuck and push it into the spinning tube while heating it with a torch. (a lot more complicated than your solution). I'll see if I can get...

OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

Well, my engine arrived. It seems like it's been sitting for a long time, I managed to remove the back cover and it looks like the rear cam bearing is shot so the best thing to do is take it completely apart. New set of bearings are already ordered. It does need new exhaust pipes, the ones it...

Cool! That's the same I got for the 240. So I can steal your manifold design with measurements and all☺️

OS Gemini twin rear carb gas conversion

Just to keep the discussion rolling... Mechanically speaking, are there any pros/cons of moving the carb to the rear of the engine? I noticed all (or at least most) glow engines the carb intake is partially (or totally) facing the prop wash. I guess this forces air into it. And most gas...

Thanks for your reply, I just bought one of these (the 240 gemini) and I'll be converting it to gas. I managed to get a walbro wt962 which it says that is for 15-30 cc so I guess that would work. Now is up to figure out Mitchilito tube bender while I wait for the parts delivery
