    I have removed broken taps from aluminum with nitric acid. The acid doesn't attack the aluminum, just the hardened tap. First clean off any cutting oils with carb cleaner then build a dam around the hole with the broken tap in it from modeling clay. Put a few drops of the nitric acid in the hole...

    I am still alive here. I managed to assemble all of the pistons with there rings onto the rods and have them in the cylinders now. I have been seating the rings by running the bottom end in the lathe with oil in the pan splashing to lube everything for now as there is no oil pump on the block...

    I have one of these engines and there is a voltage regulator for each glow plug that drops 12 volts DC down to the 1 1/2 volts needed for each glow plug to glow. That distributor is nothing more than a hollow plastic piece that the glow plug wires run through to make it look real. bruski

    HI Joseph, You must be referring to the cam grinding setup. I built that so many years ago from an article in Strickly IC magazine. I will try and find it but it might take some time to do so. Try a search for back issues of that magazine and there articles on cam grinding and see what comes up...

    I turned all 8 cylinders and locktited them in the block. The heads are just about done as far as the shaping and the ports and mounting holes.
