Wow, way above my pay grade. I am extremely impressed by the quality of work I see on this forum. Maybe when I can retire I will try a more complex engine. My problem now is to many hobbies and too much work.
Do you attend the steam threshers show in NewRockford? I usually get up there for 1 day.

Yep. I usually go for one day also. I am a member of the Stump Lake Tractor Club and help with that every year. Our show is just south of Lakota. We do 2 or 3 antique tractor pulls each year. We also have a swap meet in the fall.

When is it? I've always wanted to see it. Maybe I can bend some summer travel to fit.

Labor day weekend I usually go to Rollag MN for their show.

I see you guys mentioning some shows for this year.
I've been to the Estevan model engineers show a while back.
That is a great show!! Those guys don't make machines, they make jewelry!!
There is some fine, fine craftmanship there. There website is: estevanmodelengineeringshow.net

Another model show is the Blackhills Model engineering show. The show is in Rapid City, SD.
You can find it here: www.centralstatesfair.com/events/2021/black-hills-model-show
I've been there a couple times. It usually the 3rd weekend in September.
Again, fine craftmanship!!!

The show I'm involved with is the Huntley Threshing Bee, just east of Billings, MT.
We're not a model show, but we do welcome models. As the name implies, we do threshing,
plowing, tractor/machinery parade, antique tractor pulls, working sawmill and a display of stationary engines.
We have a working blacksmith shop and a working antique machine shop (me).
Our biggest attraction is the homemade pie and ice cream!!
One guy even makes butter and a few of the lady's make homemade bread (from the wheat we harvest and thresh
on the spot) in an open fire. Yes, it is good!!!
You can find our website here: antiquetractorclub.com
Our show is the 3rd weekend in August.

Just passing on the good word......

For me it's 900 miles to Estevan and 700 miles to the Black Hills show, and I never miss either one. Did you ever run into John Zumpf before he passed away last year? He always went to both those shows, and it wouldn't surprise me if he also went to Huntley.

It's about 350 miles to Rapid City and about 450 to Estevan for me.
I've John Zumpf, but I don't recall meeting him. Was he from Miles City Mt??
I haven't made the Rapid City show for the last 3-4 years. I drive silage truck for the neighbor
and we start about Sept 15. Last year I sat in the truck for 10 days straight.

I make it to Rollag some years, it is kind of busy going to two shows in one weekend. Ours is on Sunday and Monday so a lot of folks make it to both.
