I found this site just by chance when poking around. I have built a simple air or steam engine from plans which runs well and have recently started a Farm Boy. I am a long time machinist by trade. I have a South Bend 9A lathe and a 6x26 Jet knee mill in my basement.

Your engine looks VERY nice.
What are the materials and finishes?
Is the cylinder and valve body dyed aluminum?
The valve connecting rod looks like free machining brass.
What are the copper-colored parts; eccentric, cylinder end plates, etc. ?

Thanks for the kind words. Everything is from the scrap bin except the base plate. The cylinder and valve body are CRS. The valve rod is brass and the copper colored parts are bronze.
