OK I know I've said this here in the past, but I'm saying it again...

Machining accidents happen in a nanosecond.
There's is no time to react. By the time you realize something is going wrong
it's time to call the Doctor.

Most machines, even hobby size machines have Emergency STOP buttons.
Given the proximity of your hands to the cutting zone of a hobby machine an
E Stop is a false security.

The E Stop has to be a B (brain) Stop
For EVERY process of EVERY cutting cycle, take the time to think about what
could go wrong.

Your own best safety device is resting dormant between your ears.
It can calculate as quickly as any computer, and has the the advantage of seeing
beyond that calculation to the dangers between here and there.
Listen to it!

I didn't create this forum for a bunch of past hobby machinists typing in messages a
letter at a time with their nose.

BE SAFE! Listen to your instincts!
If your head tells you, "That should work safely"
Give it another look.

Don't question my reach....
If you get hurt my doing something stupid in your home shop, as soon as the Doctors
tell me your safe, I'll be there to kick your ass personally! ;)

Our machines are designed to rip metals apart.
They don't know the difference between metal and flesh.
That 2 pound lump of matter in your skull does.
Use it to your advantage.

Rick
