Winding Steam Engine

This is a winding steam engine I recently designed and built. It is a very smooth running engine. This type engine with the hoist was used to move miners and ore up and down the vertical shaft of mines.

This is a picture of a working model of one made from Meccano in a Lisgard, Cornwall museum.

That shaft goes almost to the floor !

I am one of those odd ducks who don't use plans. I visualize everything in my head. Sometime I wish I would use a plans. I do the best planning in the middle of the night when I can't sleep. Sorry.
