Hi all
The V8 steam engine is finally finished and yes it runs smoothly on air.
A couple of stats of interest.... she weighs around 22kg?
She contains over 300 individual machined components as well as numerous screws, washers, gaskets etc.
Calculated displacement is about 115cc.
Any ideas as to what to do with it would be welcome.
The first couple of pics show the engine without the final covers (it's a pity you have to cover all them valves), and finally the last pics show the final engine.
Cheers
Mike.

Looks fantastic! Great job!

Bet it would get my kayak moving pretty quick....! Or a golf cart...

Great engine! You did a really nice job. Most people don't realize that something like this is FAR more difficult than they ever imagined, and that's not to say they it's easy by any means!

John.

Hi John
Thanks for the kind comments, it has been a challenge at times
but it was very pleasing to actually see it work.
Regards
Mike.

Very very nice !! Think that's the 1st time I've seen your V-8 complete !! Congrats !:)

Think about it:

A double acting V-8 steam engine. That would give as many power pulses as a 32 cylinder 4-stroke engine. It must run very very smooth.

Very smooth indeed, no dead spots, the flywheel is a decoration really.
It was a real hoot to design and build.
Cheers
