Nicely done ... and I like the starting crank (should add one of those to my Upshur T-Head).

I'm surprised it runs with the gas tank set this low.
there is no cooling

I like this engine very much. I haven't seen this configuration before. I will have to keep this design in mind if I start building engines again in the fall.---Brian

hello
I used corian

What is the life expectancy of Corian as an insulator, and I’m assuming you’re using a tungsten electrode (aka TIG torch electrode)?

Very interesting build, by the way. Thanks for sharing!

I have been making spark plugs using Corian for over 20 years. Some of them eventually cracked and stopped working, but it was easy to replace the Corian insulator. I use .035 music wire for the center electrode, and .020 for the ground electrode. They work well. I run my engines all day at the shows, so they have quite a few hours on them.

Very interesting Scott. I’ll have to give that a try as well with my next build so I’m not constrained to the usual out-of-scale NGK plug.

thanks for the info!

John
